Discovering the Phi Phi Islands

The Phi Phi Islands are some of Thailand’s most iconic destinations, drawing visitors from around the globe with their stunning natural beauty, crystal-clear waters, and rich marine life. This tour takes you on a journey through these paradise-like islands, offering unforgettable experiences both on land and sea. In this blog, we’ll dive into the key highlights of the Krabi Phi Phi Islands and Maya Bay tour, giving you an inside look at what makes each stop unique.

The Phi Phi Islands
The Phi Phi Islands are located in Ao Nang subdistrict, Mueang Krabi District, Krabi Province, easily accessible from both Krabi and Phuket. For this blog, we’ll focus on the Krabi side, highlighting the tour details and the key stops along the way.

The Phi Phi Islands consist of two main islands: Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh. Phi Phi Don is the larger, inhabited island, known for its vibrant atmosphere with plenty of hotels, restaurants, and shops. It’s the perfect place to relax, recharge, and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch during the tour. In contrast, Phi Phi Leh, though uninhabited, is the true gem of the archipelago, boasting untouched natural beauty that leaves every visitor in awe. The highlight here is the world-renowned Maya Bay, famous for its stunning white-sand beach and turquoise waters, which gained international fame after being featured in the movie The Beach.

When you think of Thailand, it’s hard not to picture Maya Bay. Often considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, it’s easy to see why. But the Phi Phi Islands offer so much more than just one spectacular beach—let’s explore the highlights of this exciting tour.

The Must-Visit Spots on the Tour

🏝️ Maya Bay

The highlight of the tour, Maya Bay is a beach like no other. Enclosed by towering limestone cliffs, it offers a picture-perfect setting with white sandy shores and crystal-clear waters. While the beach gained global fame from The Beach movie, its real charm lies in its serene beauty. As part of the tour, you’ll disembark at the rear dock of Phi Phi Leh at Loh Sama Bay and take a short walk through a nature trail to reach this iconic bay. This route allows you to explore the lush surroundings before arriving at the breathtaking Maya Bay, where you can soak in the stunning views and enjoy the pristine beach. Don’t forget to snap some photos or dip your toes in the waters!

However, to help preserve its natural beauty, Maya Bay is closed to tourists during August and September every year for environmental restoration. During this period, boats are not allowed to dock at the island. Instead, our tour will stop at the entrance of the bay, where the boat will pause to allow you to take in the stunning view of Maya Bay from the water. This way, you can still experience the magic of this world-renowned destination without disturbing its fragile ecosystem.

🏝️ Pileh Lagoon

Pileh Lagoon is one of the most breathtaking spots on Phi Phi Leh Island. Surrounded by steep limestone cliffs, the lagoon boasts emerald-green waters that are perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The boat will glide into the calm waters of the lagoon, offering a tranquil and magical setting to relax, swim, or simply admire the beauty of the surroundings.

🏝️ Viking Cave

Famous for its ancient cave paintings believed to be made by fishermen, Viking Cave is also known for its valuable swiftlet nests used in bird’s nest soup, a delicacy in many Asian cultures. While tourists aren’t allowed inside the cave, we’ll stop here for photos from the boat, giving you a glimpse into this unique piece of Phi Phi’s history.

🏝️ Monkey Bay

For animal lovers, Monkey Bay is a treat! This small beach is home to playful crab-eating macaques, who can be seen foraging along the shores. You’ll get the chance to observe these wild monkeys in their natural habitat, making for an unforgettable experience and some great photo opportunities.

🏝️ Phi Phi Don Island

After exploring the natural wonders of Phi Phi Leh, you’ll head to Phi Phi Don Island, the larger and more developed of the two. Here, we’ll stop for a buffet lunch, with Halal food options available. This island offers plenty of amenities and is the perfect spot to unwind before continuing the tour.

🏝️ Bamboo Island

The last stop on the tour is the tranquil Bamboo Island. Known for its pristine white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, Bamboo Island offers the perfect place to relax, swim, or snorkel. The island is surrounded by vibrant marine life, making it an ideal spot for underwater exploration. Whether you’re looking to sunbathe, stroll along the beach, or take a dip in the water, this serene island has something for everyone.

How Can I Book the Phi Phi Islands and Maya Bay Tour?

Booking the Phi Phi Islands and Maya Bay Tour is simple and convenient. You can reserve your spot at any tour counter located at popular tourist attractions or hotel areas in Krabi Province, including Krabi Town and Ao Nang. Alternatively, you can easily book the tour online with us. Just make your reservation, and on the day of the tour, our staff will pick you up directly from your hotel—hassle-free and convenient!

On the day of the tour, we’ll take care of everything. After enjoying your day on the Phi Phi Islands, we will drop you back off at your hotel for your convenience.

Please note that if you’re staying in areas like Krabi Town, Klong Muang Beach, or Tubkaek Beach, the tour price may be slightly higher (around 100 THB) compared to bookings from Ao Nang. This is because the pickup locations in these areas are farther from the tour’s starting point.

Additionally, most Phi Phi Islands and Maya Bay tour prices provided by agencies do not include national park fees, which are 400 THB for non-Thai adults (13 years and up) and 200 THB for non-Thai children (2–12 years old).

What Should You Keep in Mind When Booking a Tour?

Phi Phi Islands and Maya Bay are world-renowned marine destinations, often ranking as top choices for travelers visiting Thailand. Adding to their appeal, these iconic spots are accessible from both Krabi and Phuket.

However, it’s important to note that during the high season, these locations can become crowded with tourists and boats. If you’re seeking a quieter experience or hoping to capture images of Maya Bay without the crowds, consider visiting in the early morning before most tours arrive.

To achieve this, you can opt for an “Early Bird” tour, which brings you to Maya Bay at sunrise. While this option offers a more peaceful experience, it does require waking up much earlier than usual to catch the boat ahead of regular tour schedules.
